St George, Utah

The Conoco Auto Court was built by Bert Covington and opened in 1931 featuring “new deluxe cabins, strictly modern in every respect.” Note the garages next to each unit. Bert also operated a Conoco service station at 247 East and Highway 91.

Panguitch, utah

Tom Davies opened his Deluxe Cottages in the fall of 1937 with nine units. Each featured hot and cold running water, bathroom and kitchenette, and adjoining garages with locking doors.

ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA

Built in the mid-century to cater to the Disneyland crowd, Stovall’s Space Age capitalized on the space race of the 1960s. It was located at 1176 West Katella Avenue and featured “geometric trim, thousands of space spheres and Jet Age metals” in the stairs and railings.
